  Musette

Musette has been a resident at CHF for a little over a year.  She will be graduating with her teaching degree in the spring.  Musette has been taking 3 buses a day getting to school and taking her daughter to daycare.  She receives only $220 a month to cover expenses.  She has been unable to afford any transportation other than the bus, with her monthly bus pass paid for by her college tuition.  A vehicle, insurance or even gasoline has been out of the question for her.

What a wonderful surprise when Musette was presented with a van, donated by Beazer Homes early in January!  Not only did she receive a van, but Beazer Homes also provided her with 1 year of paid insurance.  Peter Simons, Kathy Ellis and the employees at Beazer Homes raised the money for this enormous gift for Musette.

This van will make a tremendous difference everyday in Musette’s life.  It gives her the opportunity to get to where she is going in less than half of the time it used to take her.  It will also allow her to accept a teaching position anywhere, without regard to transportation issues.

Update:  Musette was hired by North High School, and began her new teaching job in the fall of 2006.  At the end of March Musette moved into affordable housing.  All of the hard work has a reward for Musette; she can now support herself and her daughter.
